ISO 8295 – Coefficient of Friction Plastic Film and Sheeting
ISO 8295 specifies a method for determining the coefficients of starting and sliding friction of plastics film and sheeting when sliding over the same or other
substances.
Serves primarily for quality control and does not give a comprehensive assessment of the machinability.
Plastic film is a widely used material in the packaging industry.
Within the packaging industry, one can separate the use of film into two categories: food packaging such as produce bags, carton liners, or meat seal wrap, and
non-food packaging such as envelope liners or potting soil sacks.
Outside of the packaging industry, plastic films are used for an assortment of products: trash bags, can liners, I.V. bags, construction liners, and barriers to name
a few.
The frictional properties of these films must be characterized and controlled to ensure the experience of the end consumer is acceptable.
*** Before conducting this ISO standard , it is important to read the entire specification. Standards can be obtained from appropriate standard authorities.
